Richard H. Durr. It is with great sadness that his family announces his passing on April 12, 2013 at the age of 92. Dick was born in Chicago, Ill., on January 20, 1921 to Herbert A. Durr and Mary Muhlhauser Durr. He was predeceased by his first wife Mary Griffith Durr, his sister, Frances D. Haverkampf, and his son, John. He is survived by his wife, Ellyn (Lyn) of Indian Wells, daughter, Katherine Durr and granddaughter, Rebecca Daley both of Gardnerville, Nev., son Richard (Deborah) Durr of South Lake Tahoe, Calif., stepgranddaughter, Kendra Hills, stepdaughter, Tina (Richard) Eisenhart of Indian Wells, two stepgrandchildren, Ashley (David) Kolbe of Woodland Hills, Calif., and Amanda Eisenhart of Philadelphia, Pa., and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Durr graduated from New Trier High School in Winnetka, Ill., and the University of Omaha and spent his career in the US Army retiring with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Following his military service, Dick spent ten years with H & R Block in Killeen, Texas. He was a member of Desert Horizons Country Club and enjoyed all sports, especially golf. Dick was also an avid bridge player and enjoyed cruising the oceans of the world with Lyn and spending time with his family and his close friends from Ukiah. The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Philip J. Shaver, the staff at The Renker Pavilion at Eisenhower Medical Center and the staff at The Fountains at The Carlotta for their care and support and especially to his caregiver, Riske Wanni, for her love and kindness to Mr. Durr during his last few years.
