Robert M. Scott

Robert (Bob) M. Scott, 86, passed away October 16, 2010 at Eisenhower Medical Center in Rancho Mirage, Calif. due to natural causes. He was born October 25, 1923 in Juneau, Alaska to Walter P. and Ellen Scott. He was a graduate of Juneau Douglas High School and Washington State University. In August of 1950, he married Evelyn Bratko and they enjoyed 57 years of marriage until Ev's death in September of 2007. Bob was a lifelong resident of Alaska and a retired New York Life Insurance agent (CLU), serving his clients for 47 years in southeast Alaska. Bob joined the Army Airborne, in 1943 after his second year at WSU, and served in Europe, in the 326th Glider Infantry Regiment. Upon his honorable discharge, he returned to WSU to finish his degree in business administration and subsequently joined the Alaska National Guard. Bob was a "people person" and loved to strike up conversation with most anyone he would meet. He also was a past president of the Juneau Lions Club, past commodore of the Juneau Yacht club, member of the Juneau Chamber of Commerce and the Juneau Rotary. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Walter P. Scott Jr.; a daughter, Jennifer; and his loving wife, Evelyn. Survivors include two daughters, Roberta Scott of Gustavus, Ark. and Jody Hollenbeck and husband, Scott of Missoula, Mont.; and grandchildren, Kris Hawkins (Corey) of Missoula and Robb Hollenbeck of Portland, Ore. Bob also leaves behind a great-granddaughter, Stevie, also of Missoula. The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to Bob's care-giver, Natalie Vovk. A Memorial Service is planned for summer of 2011 in Juneau. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, a donation to the charity of the donor's choice in Bob's name.
