Roger W. Dundas

June 17, 1934 - Sept. 22, 2010 Roger W. Dundas died on September 22, 2010 in Palm Springs, Calif. from congestive heart failure. Roger was born in Santa Monica, Calif. on June 17, 1934 to Afton McMurray and Gustavus Dundas. He moved to Indio and went to Coachella Valley High School, San Bernadino Valley Junior College and San Diego State. He was a bartender at the El Cortez Hotel during college. He worked for Safeway for 3 years but for 33 years he worked in construction for the Jones Brothers Company and Granite Company here in Indio and San Diego. Rain or shine, boiling hot or freezing cold he was driving the massive water truck and other heavy equipment. He loved working outdoors. Roger loved Latin Jazz, Ford cars, Mexican food and winning at the casino. With Mary Dorr, his companion, he traveled to Montana, San Francisco, Portland, Seattle, Arizona and Hawaii. Mary and Roger spent many weekends in San Diego, his favorite city. Roger was a true and loyal friend. He kept in touch with all his many friends, Carmen Villegas-Iseman, Irene Munoz Murray, John Purdin, John Convaloff, Alec Sicre, Johnny Jones, Nina Hood, Mike Bozick, Mike Hoffman, John Mountain and Jackie Burkholder. The staff at A & D Eldercare were such good caregivers for Roger. He was a very special man and always a perfect gentleman. He will be missed by all his friends. He requested no services.
