Rosanna Parent

Rosanna Parent, passed away Sunday September 5, 2010 of Ovarian Cancer, in the comfort of her own home in Desert Hot Springs, Calif. She was born July 2, 1935 in Bradford, Penn., the daughter of Stephen B. Gibson and Ocie V. Burnside. She was a graduate of Townville High School, Townville PA; Westminster University PA - (BA Music); CSU- Northridge CA (BA Geography); CSU- Northridge CA (MA Urban Studies) and was a CFP (Certified Financial Planner) employed by American Express for 17 years. She was a 30-year member of AAUW (American Association of University Women) and was recently elected President of the Palm Springs Branch. She was a member of the Unitarian Universalist Church of the Desert, in Rancho Mirage, Calif. and was recently elected to the Board of Trustees. She was an avid reader, with memberships in three book clubs. Gourmet cooking, however, was her passion, as can be attested by the many who dined at her home. She is survived by her husband, Erwin; brother, Jay Gibson of Muskogee, Okla.; and her son, Jay Hanna of Coos Bay, Ore. A memorial service will be a private affair. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
