Victor Najera Tavares

Victor Najera Tavares, passed away on September 12, 2010 at the age of 74 in Rancho Mirage, Calif. He was born on December 24, 1935 in El Centro, Calif. Son of Jesus Maria Tavares and Theodora Najera Tavares, whom he has preceded in death. He served in the Korean War and was an active member of the Korean War Veteran's Association/VA. He was a Painter/Painting Contractor for 30 years and was a long-time resident of the Coachella Valley. He enjoyed art (sketching) and music as a percussionist and was an avid boxing sports fan. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Rose Marie Tavares of Indio, Calif.; three sons, William Tavares of San Juan, Texas, Victor "Bebe" Ochoa Tavares of Indio, Calif., and Lionel Tavares of Indio, Calif. and one daughter, Tina Marie Tavares of Indio, Calif. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Nina Marie Tavares of Austin, Texas, William Tavares, Jr. of Ridgecrest, Calif., Michael Tavares of La Quinta, Calif., Christopher Tavares of La Quinta, Calif., Sidney Tavares (Licon) of Indio, Calif., Mark Sean Licon of La Quinta, Calif., Chloe Ivana Licon of Coronado, Calif., Lionel Tavares, Jr. and Leonie Rose Tavares and six great-grandchildren; one sibling whom he is also survived by, Jesse Tavares of Sacramento, Calif. Two other brothers whom preceded in his death, Cipriano Tavares of Stockton, Calif. and Guillermo Tavares, (Korean War) and recently, one granddaughter, Briauna Tavares of Ridgecrest, Calif. (August 2010). He will be best known for his forgiving heart and hard-work ethics. He was very much loved and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Memorial services were held private.
