William Tearney Obituary

William (Bill) Tearney of Indio, Calif. was called home on October 22, 2010. The end of his remarkable life was peaceful and filled with those he loved at his side. Bill was born September 23, 1936 in Lackawanna, N.Y. He was the youngest brother of two boys born to Kathleen Tearney. Bill was married to the love of his live, Joyce (Coble) in Lancaster, Penn. in 1981, and they moved west in 1991. He is survived by his wife; four children, Debra, Diana, Michael, and William, Jr., along with their families; and four step-children, Fred, Brad, Chris, and Susan, and their families. He was preceded in death by his brother Francis O'Farrell. For thirty-seven years, Bill was a proud and active member of a 12-step program, where he volunteered his time, and love to countless others in need. However, Bill often said he received much more than he ever gave. Bill felt blessed to be part of such a loving and giving organization and he wished to express his love for all those that walked with him along this path. Our dear friend and father wished to convey that his death was due to pulmonary fibrosis. Bill was adamant in his desire to encourage others to aggressively educate themselves on any medical diagnosis. In other words, ask questions and keep asking questions until you have the big picture.

Dear Joyce and Family,
I'm so very sorry for the loss of Bill. The Christmas season is especially a time when my mom is dearly missed and you come to mind. Joyce, you & Bill were the best of friends to my mom & she counted you among the loves of her life. I just reread your precious letter dated 9/7/03 after my mom passed. I'd love to visit with you and share a hug. My love and prayers are with you and your family always. - Kris
