Thomas John Sereno, Sr. of Cathedral City died at home after a brief illness on Tuesday, January 15, 2013, at the age of 82. He was born in Coudersport, Pa., on October 1, 1930, to John & Mary Sereno. He graduated from Catholic University in 1952 and later earned two Masters Degrees, one from UCLA and one from USC. His entire career was spent in the Aerospace Industry. He retired in 1992 when he moved to the Coachella Valley. He joined Desert Princess Country Club and was known to most members as "T.J." He spent most of his leisure time playing golf and was the organizer of a golfing group called Choose-Ups. He is survived by his wife, Sandra, of 46 years, his son, Dr. Thomas Sereno, Jr. of Poway, Calif., two grandsons, Tommy and Tyler, and two great grandchildren, Marcus and Alexis. He is also survived by three sisters, Phyllis Stivers of Romulus, N.Y., Janet Rudolph of Pittsburgh, Pa., Carol Ellenberger of Morgan Hill, Calif., and one brother, William Sereno of Ocoee, Fla. No services are planned.
