Russell A. Marshall was called home to the Lord on May 10, 2013. In life, he was greatly loved as a husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Russ was born July 23, 1915 in Wheatland, Calif. He married Irma Wise in Klamath Fall, Ore. in 1938. He graduated from the University of Oregon in 1942 and remained an avid Duck fan throughout his life. Russ served in the Merchant Marines during WWII. He moved his family to the desert in 1953 and became one of the early residents of Palm Desert. As the owner of Marshall's Fashion Cleaners in Indio, he became involved in the community and enjoyed supporting his daughters' activities at Indio High School. He was a member of the Indio Rotary Club where he served as president. He also belonged to the Elks and the Coachella Masonic Lodge. Russ was a member of the Palm Desert Community Presbyterian Church for many years where he served as a Deacon. He was preceded in death by his wife Irma and brother Murray. He is survived by his daughters Robyn and Mary, two grandaughters, two grandsons, and four great grandsons. Russ will be missed for his kind heart, caring spirit, and friendly personality. A private memorial service will be held at the Coachella Valley Cemetery on Friday, May 17th at 9:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Palm Desert Community Presbyterian Church scholarship fund.
