Madeleine Parks-Goldman Obituary

Madeleine Parks-Goldman, 92, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2013 following surgery. Her family was at her side. Madeleine was born in Seattle, Wash. July 20, 1921. In 1927, the family moved to Alameda, Calif. where she spent her formative years. As a young woman, she was active in Jobs Daughters serving as honored queen. she is survived by her husband of eleven years, Dr. Abram F. Goldman, daughter, Sondra Gorman of El Cajon, Calif., son, Doug (Joyce) of Auburn, Calif. and son, Tom (Valerie) of Denver, Co. She is also survived by her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bob and Charlotte Parks of San Jose, Calif.; four grandchildren, Matt Gorman, Anne Fleming, Karen Lowhurst and Chelsea Lugo and ten great- grandchildren. Madeleine was preceded in death by her first husband, William T. Parks in 1990. They were married for forty-seven years and were longtime residents of El Cerrito, Calif. before retiring in Palm Desert, Calif. Madeleine's time, dedication and commitment to volunteerism were exceptional and she was admired by her peers. Her work at Eisenhower Medical Center totaled over 15,000 hours during her twenty years of service. She joined Desert Friends of John Tracy Clinic in 1990 and became a certified audiometrist. In 2005, Madeleine was publically recognized by John Tracy Clinic. At her passing, she sat on Desert Friends board of directors as an advisor. Madeleine lived a long and well traveled life and will always be remembered and missed by those who loved her for her strength, dignity, style and grace. A celebration of Madeleine's life will be held Friday, November 8, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Chaparral Country Club. The family requests donations may be made to John Tracy Clinic, 806 West Adams Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA 90007.
