Dr. Gordon A. Pratt, Sr. 88, of Bryan, Texas passed away on September 23, 2013. Per Dr. Pratt's request, a private graveside service for the family will be conducted by Callaway-Jones Funeral Home and Crematory.
Dr. Pratt was born on May 20, 1925 in Dallas, Texas. He attended Woodrow Wilson High School, Louisiana Tech and Baylor College of Dentistry. After completing dental school, he entered the Navy and became a Lieutenant Colonel before retiring from the reserves.
In 1949, Dr. Pratt set up his dental practice in Mexia, Texas where he practiced for eight years. He then moved his practice to Bryan in 1957. Professionally, Dr. Pratt was active in the local dental society and held numerous offices. He was a past regional director of the Texas State Dental Association.
Dr. Pratt was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bryan where he was a deacon and Sunday school teacher. For over 55 years, he was an active member of Rotary International. He was an avid supporter of the Lady Aggies Athletic program, rarely missing a game. He served on the Bryan Parks and Recreation board for many years, coached Little League and was active in several tennis leagues.
Dr. Pratt was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Margaret Ann Smith Pratt; his parents R. Truett and Mary Lou Boren Pratt; step-mother, Saralyn Pratt; two brothers, L. Truett Pratt and David Randall Pratt; and his grandson, Taylor Clifton Pratt.
He is survived by his youngest brother, Joseph Neal Pratt and wife Marjorie; also sister- in-law, Billye Pratt of College Station, Texas; and sister-in-law, Erin Pratt of San Antonio, Texas. Other survivors include his five children, daughter, Donna Pratt Ford of Frisco, Texas; son, Gordon A. Pratt, Jr. and wife Janene; daughter, Biddie Ann Davis and husband Tommy; son, Paul T. Pratt and wife Barbara; daughter, Shea Lyn Pratt Blocker and Joe Broadus, all of Bryan, Texas. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family is especially grateful to the staff of Millican House and Southern Care Hospice for their compassionate care.
