February 13, 1957 - October 18, 2012

Lawanda Jean Wooton, 55, of Bryan passed away Thursday, October 18, 2012 at St. Joseph Regional Health Center.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, October 24, at Jones-Washington Mortuary. Services are set for 11 a.m. Thursday, October 25, at Lee Chapel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Floyd Polk, officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.

Lawanda was born February 13, 1957 in Bryan to Betty J. Taylor and Tommy Lee "Buddy" McMurray. She graduated from Skyline High School, Allstate Business College and El Centro Community College all in Dallas. Lawanda was a member of Lee Chapel United Methodist Church and served as Vice Chair of Administrative Counsel.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Lucille Robertson, Quincy Taylor, Georgia McMurray and Sam McMurray.

Survivors include her husband, Gary Wooten; sons and daughter-law, Torrick and Shereka McMurray, Brian Ward, Jeremy Wooten; daughter, Sandy Wooten; parents, Betty J. Taylor and Tommy Lee "Buddy" McMurray; brother, Gregory Easter; sister, Jackie Warren; dear friend, Beverly Oliver; and nine grandchildren.

The family extends special thanks to Hospice Brazos Valley and her Lee Chapel Church family.
