Dr. Auerenheimer taught me at Texas A&M. He was an absolute delight to learn from every day... filled with joy, enthusiasm and great passion for his subject and students. May his family and friends be richly blessed with peace and joy, comforted by the memories of beautiful times spent with him. May his soul rest in peace, may we one day meet again.

Dear Family, for once in my life I am speechless, Pepe was for me, my father. he spent quality time with me. he was my cheerleader, he was my hero. I never missed one of his visits when he visted Martina, Mark and the kids. I had to be reminded that he came to visit his family, and I guess I felt I was a member to. My wife Linda would tell me, "enough leave Pepe alone to visit with the grandkids, When I heard he was coming for a visit I think I was more excited
then anyone. I will miss my friend, cheerleader, and father, more then you will know. Love Linda & Bob Gorde

A great ambassador for intuitive economic thinking and the only Professor that could make his students wonder whether the law of gravity applied to chalk erasers. Pepe contributed a lot to the character of the department that made studying economics at A&M a special experience.

Pepe and I arrived at the Department of Economics at approximately the same time. He was a most excellent man and immense fun to be around. Imagine, an economist who was fun to be around! We shall all miss him.

I am extremely sad to hear this news. To me, Pepe was a great advisor and a friend.
I will remember him as someone who expressed his opinion honestly with a tact, an avid reader of Gabriel Garcia Marquez and an economist who can compare abstraction in painting to economic models. He equally appreciated elegance in an economic proof as much as in food. As a mentor he could see his students as peers.
We will miss you Pepe!

Pepe was a great friend through 44 years of brotherhood. We have only wonderful memories of joyful times together, either in Brasil,or in the States.
To our beloved Chris, Martina, Marc and children we send our most sorrowful embrace.

Pepe was my professor at Texas A&M, where he taught International macroeconomics. He was one of the most "intuitive" professors I have come across. He was an avid soccer enthusiasist and one of the more friendly faces around the department. It is with great admiration I remember Pepe. I pray that his souls rests in peace and his family members find solace in Pepe's charm.
