Mrs. Charlie Mae Moten- Matthews, 94 of Bryan, Texas went to be with her LORD Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at Lampstand Health & Rehab. Center.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, October 18, at Daniel & Son Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 19th, 11 a.m. at Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church, with the Rev. Craig Anderson officiating.
Mrs. Charlie Mae Matthews, was born October 6, 1919 in Branchville, Texas to James and Sirlina Green. She attended and graduated from E.A. Kemp High School .She confessed her love for her LORD Jesus Christ at an early age. She was a faithful member of Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church until her health failed her and she could no longer attend. She loved her church and had been a member since 1938
She was a member of the culinary committee, sang in church choir, youth usher director; Missionary Society; Deaconess; Sunday school teacher, she worked with the Shepherd Boy League, GA Girls, BTU, and with the youth department. She was also a member of the Grand Court Order of Calanthe; I have a Dream Garden Club and PTA president.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husbands, John Moten, Deacon O.C. Matthews; two sons, Lawrence C. Parhms, and John "Dute" Moten, III; three sisters, Ruth Pittman, Juanita Marlin and Dorothy Lacy; two brothers, James Green Jr. "Buddy" and Elbert Green
Mrs. Charlie Mae Matthews, leaves to cherish her memories one daughter, Johnnie Mae Moten Cunningham of Garland, Texas; one son and one daughter-in-law, Edward K "Bubba" Moten & Louise of Houston; seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends
