Marvel L. Buckland, 67, passed away December 25, 2008, at her home with her family by her side. Services are set for 1 p.m. Tuesday, December 30, at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in College Station with Rev. Erich Schaeffer officiating. Interment will follow at College Station Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday, December 29, and 8:30 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 30, at Memorial Funeral Chapel in College Station.
Marvel worked at the College Station Wal-Mart in the infant and toddler department until her illness. She was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church and the Tabitha Women's Circle.
Marvel loved reading, she enjoyed going to the College Station Library and the kindness of their staff. She especially enjoyed reading her Bibles. For vacations with her family and a little peace and serenity she would go to the beach in Galveston, listening to the waves crash and picking up seashells.
Marvel was preceded in death by her great-granddaughter, Kiera Marie Morales.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Ted and Carole Oplinger; daughter and son-in-law, Tanya and Dale Miller, all of Bryan; sister and brother-in-law, Alice and Jim Nance of Richardson; grandchildren, Johanna, Russell and Nathan Oplinger, Robert Morales, Tommy Morales and wife, Elizabeth; great-granddaughter, Nikia Morales; nieces and nephew, Marvel Peterson and husband, Ed, Alice Youngblood and husband, Jeff, Lou Nance; and numerous great-nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Brazos Valley Hospice.
