October 12, 1912 – November 5, 2009

Mable Louise Stabler Patranella, 97, of Bryan passed away on Thursday, November 5, 2009, at St. Joseph Manor surrounded by her family. Visitation for family and friends will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, November 7, at Hillier Funeral Home.
Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Sunday, November 8, in the chapel at Hillier Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Bryan City Cemetery.

Mable was born in Rockdale, Texas, to Bennie and Annie Mae Davenport, and on February 21, 1933, she married John "Jay" Calvin Stabler. Jay preceded her in death in 1950. Mable and Jay bore two sons, Jay Calvin and Lonnie Dean Stabler. On May 26, 1951, Mable married Anthony Patranella, and together they bore Anthony Patranella Jr.

During her 97 years, she worked at Stabler Sign Co., Parker Astin, J.C. Penney and Texas A&M University. Mable was a lifelong member of Central Baptist Church of Bryan.

She loved life but felt family was the greatest gift that God gave her. Mable loved her family and gave her life to seeing that they felt love and understood the meaning of unconditional love. Her focus on family produced an extended family that will miss her smile.

During her life, she had the opportunity to travel with her sons and together they shared many memorable moments.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Jay Stabler and Tony Patranella, and beloved daughter-in-law, Jan Stabler.

Mable is survived by her loving sons, Jay Calvin Stabler, Lonnie Dean Stabler and Anthony Patranella; daughters-in-law, Vickie Patranella and Leona Stabler; grandchildren, Dana Moon of Houston, Randy Stabler of Round Rock, Texas, Staci Groff of College Station, Terri Nance Stabler of Dallas, Steven Patranella of Houston and Pam Perrone of College Station; 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous extended family members and friends.

Mable was a friend and neighbor for many years.. I always enjoyed visiting with her and going over to her house when I was a teenager for a slice of chocolate cake. She was a real "lady" and will be missed. Her family meant the world to her and I offer my deepest condolences. Sincerely, Nancy Robinson Harper
