Georgia Bell Locke passed away Sunday, June 24, 2012 in Bryan at the age of 95. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at Bryan City Cemetery with Joe Baisden officiating.
Georgia was born in Bryan, September 18, 1916 to George B. "Pop" and Annie Ruth (Hawes) Shaw. She grew up in Bryan and graduated from Bryan High School and was a charter member of College Avenue Baptist Church.
Georgia moved to Houston in 1935 and attended Massey Business College and married Jessie Locke in Houston in November of 1936. Georgia also graduated with a music degree from the University of Houston, which led her to teach piano from her home for 50 years. She and her husband lived in the Houston area from 1935 until Mr. Locke retired in 1973 when they moved to Bryan.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Jessie Locke in 1996; as well as her parents and a sister, Ruth Little of Bryan.
Left behind from her passing is her son Gordon and wife Ann Locke of Troy, Texas and four grandchildren Dennis and Teresa Locke of Temple, David and Julie Locke of Nemo, Karen Locke Craddock and husband Craig of Jacksonville, Florida and Linda Locke of Troy. Also left behind are her four great grandchildren Tim Locke of Cincinnatti, Ohio, Sarah Locke Smith and husband Travis of Ft. Worth, Shannon Craddock of Searcy, Arkansas and Lesleigh Craddock of Jacksonville, Florida.
