June 2, 1945 - October 8, 2012
Retired Army Col. Kenneth Wayne Korb passed from this life on October 8, 2012 after a severe illness. He passed peacefully, surrounded by his closest friends. A celebration of Ken's life is being planned for October 20, 2012 at the Olsen Field tailgate preceding the Texas A&M vs. LSU game. The time is TBD. Additionally, a memorial mass will be held at 11a.m., October 27th at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Helotes.
Ken loved his country, his family, his dogs and Texas A&M University. His service in the US Army took him to Antarctica, and twice to Germany where he was on the front line in the Cold War. He was known and loved by many as a gracious host at hundreds of Aggie tailgate celebrations. His friends described him as warm and giving with a heart as big as his boisterous laugh.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin Ferdinand Korb "Charlie" and Elfrieda Korb "Fritzie".
He is survived by his sister Nancy Tucker (husband Phillip), his son Eric Korb (wife Stephanie), and his daughter Karen Korb. He is also survived by his three granddaughters Julia and Margaret Langeland and Parker Korb, numerous nieces and nephews, and dearest friends Barbara Cavender, Ed Watson, and Donald Goodbey Jr "Dee".
Ken's final resting place will be the Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio. Any memorial donations to the Returning Heroes Home Foundation in Ken's name are greatly appreciated. View his Book of Memories™ at CallawayJones.com
