JoAnn Olexey, age 66, of Bryan went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 surrounded by her loving family. A time for the family to receive friends will be Saturday, October 13, 2012 from 4p.m. to 6p.m. at Hillier Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Sunday, October 14, 2012 at 2 p.m. at Hillier Funeral Home with Rev. Dan Warden officiating. Interment will follow at Wellborn Cemetery.
JoAnn was born in New Brunswick, New Jersey to Joseph John and Wanda Jean (Garren) Schneider on September 19, 1946. She moved to Odessa and attended Permian High School. JoAnn moved to Bryan in 1968 where she remained until her death. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Texas A&M University in1980.
She was a loving person, and a joy to be around. When she was present we knew it, and when she wasn't she was missed. JoAnn was 66 years young, positive with a good attitude and always a joy.
JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Wanda Schneider.
Left behind from her passing is her husband, Thomas "Billy" Olexey; her two sons, Cary McCarroll of Bryan, and Sean and wife Becky McCarroll of College Station and grandson, Jay Matthew McCarroll of College Station who was her pride and joy. She also leaves behind her brother, Robert Gene and wife Carra Schneider of Odessa and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in JoAnn's name to Brazos Valley Hospice, 502 West 26th Street, Bryan, and Houston 100 Club 5555 San Felipe St Ste 520 Houston TX 77056-2733.
