After a lengthy battle fighting cancer, Lee Derby passed away, Friday, October 5, 2012 at his home in Kyle Texas with his beloved partner, Shirley Hanna at his side. He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Dollie Derby and his father, Lee John Derby, Sr.
He leaves behind his mother, Delphine Derby, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and his sister, Beverly Henkle, of Davenport, Iowa. His son, John Derby and daughter- in-law, Diana (Dee) Derby, of Wheelock, Texas, daughter, Yvonne (Micci) Ries and son-in-law, John, of Sheridan, Oregon. His daughter, Yvette Derby, of Salem, Oregon and his beloved grandchildren, Jason Cisco and wife, Lisa, of Salem, Oregon. Clinton Derby, of Salem, Oregon and Lauron Derby of Salem, Oregon. He had several great grand children and numerous nieces and nephews.
Lee will be forever known as the guy you could call to lend you a hand and he would be there. He had a gift of teaching you what it meant to be kind by leading by example. He was the first to teach his children how to fish, hunt, ride motorcycles, drive cars and fix all of those great bargain vehicles his kid's brought home for "Pops" to fix. His knowledge of electronics was amazing and he worked as an engineer his entire career before retiring. He will always be remembered for his smile and twinkle in his eyes.
There will be a celebration of his life at 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 3, 2012 at the home of John and Diana Derby in Wheelock, Texas.
