Jose Luis Pernia Vega, 90, of College Station, passed away Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at St. Joseph Regional Health Center. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, September 21, at Memorial Cemetery of College Station.
Jose was born July 25, 1923 in La Victoria, Venezuela to Juan and Ana Pernia. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. After his service to his country Jose became a petroleum engineer after graduating from the University of Oklahoma. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He will be missed by numerous family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Mary Josephine Allen; and a grandson, Luis Alfonso Pernia Taruntaev.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Blanca Pernia; children, Luis Ronald and wife Jannelle Pernia Allen, Jose and wife Sonia Ines Pernia Allen, Ana M. Pernia Allen, Mida Pernia Allen, Marian Pernia Allen and husband Dale Gardner, and Ruben Pernia Sanchez; grandchildren, Marianna, Santiago, Chloe, Lt. Jose Edward, Sonia Estefania, Rachel, Nathan, David, Francis, Leah and Mary Jo; and numerous great-grandchildren.
