ANDERSON — Mary Elizabeth Hollingsworth McKinney, wife of Kenneth L. McKinney, died Saturday, April 26, 2014 at AnMed Health Medical Center.
Born in Anderson, she was the daughter of the late B.F. and Elizabeth Gossett Hollingsworth. She was retired from the U.S. Postal Service. Mrs. McKinney was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church where she taught the 5 year old Sunday school class for over 47 years. She was a Charter member and Past President of Anderson Drove #220, B.P.O. Does.
Survivors include her husband, Kenneth, of the home; two daughters, Lynn McKinney McDaniel and husband, George of Charlottesville, Va. And Teresa McKinney Adkins and husband, Rick of Anderson; ten grandchildren, Erica, Lauren, Lindsey, Katie, Chris, Stephen, John, Bailey, Mason and Erin; two great grandchildren, Isabella and Emiley; sister, Nellie Sue Kinley of Anderson; brother, David Hollingsworth of Anderson; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Lisa Sheryl McKinney.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at New Prospect Baptist Church conducted by Dr. Tony Smith and Rev. Tom Turner. Burial was in the church cemetery. The family received friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Monday at Sullivan-King Mortuary, 3205 North Highway 81, Anderson. The family is at the residence.
