Donald King Obituary

EASLEY — Donald Bruce King, 91, beloved husband of Frances Reames King, passed away peacefully on the evening of Monday, November 18, 2024.

Don had a big and generous heart and was always quick with a smile. He will be sorely missed by many.

Born in Chesapeake, Virginia, Don was the son of the late Stephen Bruce King and Marie Bradt King.

Don retired from his position as Quality Control Director at Singer/Ryobi in 1996 after nearly 39 years of dedicated service. He was an active member of the Easley Presbyterian Church, where he sang in the choir and was a former deacon and elder. He enjoyed working with his hands, building and refinishing furniture. He was also a member of the Easley Lions Club and proudly served his country in the US Army in active and later reserve duty, attaining the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.

In addition to his loving wife of 65 years, Frances, Don is survived by his son, Donovan Brian King and wife, Faiza Patel of New York City; and grandchildren, Laila A. King and Kamran L. ("Kam") King.

Don was predeceased by his parents, and a sister, Shirley Buchanan. Also predeceasing him was his much-loved sister-in-law, Sandi Reames, whom he welcomed into his and Frances's home following the death of her and Frances's mother, Eloise Pou Reames.

A private graveside service will be held in Greenlawn Memorial Park in Easley at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully asks that memorials be made to the Dream Center, 111 Hillcrest Drive, Suite A, Easley, SC, 29640, or through dreamcenterpc.org
