COLUMBIA — Ted Mac Hendrix, 64, of Columbia, S.C., passed away on February 7, 2024. He was born on October 6, 1959, in Easley, S.C.
Ted was a devoted husband to his loving wife Lisa Hendrix and a proud father to his children Mercedes and John Hendrix, as well as his daughters LaToya McNeil, Nikki Ward (Ridgeway) , and son Brian Austin. He adored his nine grandchildren, five boys and four girls, and cherished his two great-grandchildren.
Ted is survived by his siblings Helen Jones GA, Paulette Martin WV, Furman Hendrix SC, John Hendrix IL, Frances Hendrix GA, Joanne Thomas GA, Gail Robinson SC, Emma Smith MD, Barbara Hendrix NC. Mr. Hendrix was preceded in death by his parents William Furman and Patsy Hendrix and by is first born daughter Remona Hendrix.
Ted had a distinguished military career, serving in the Army from 1978. He was stationed in Stugart, Germany, where he honed his skills and contributed to the nation's defense.
Following his military service, Ted dedicated many years to working as a skilled employee at the Ryobi/Singer Factory. He was known for his exceptional workmanship and dedication to his craft.
Outside of work, Ted was an avid fisherman. He possessed remarkable patience and could spend an entire day pursuing his catch. His love for nature and the thrill of the catch brought him immense joy.
A viewing will be held on Friday at 1 p.m., followed by a graveside service at Fort Jackson Veterans Cemetery at 2 p.m. The funeral arrangements are being handled by Thompson Funeral Homes, located at 845 Leesburg Rd, Columbia, SC 29209.
Ted Mac Hendrix will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched. May he rest in peace
