EASLEY — Catherine Agnes Carpenter, also known as Cathy, passed away on January 2, 2024, at the age of 74 in Easley, South Carolina. She was born on September 23, 1949, in Walkill, NY, to her parents, Emily and Kenneth Rumsey. Cathy was a loving wife, a wonderful mother, and a doting grandmother. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Cathy is survived by her two sons, Russel Carpenter, (Jacqueline Lee Hall) and Jason Carpenter, and her daughter-in-law, Cindy Carpenter. She was a proud grandmother to her grandsons Jacob, Bret, Zachary, Caleb Todd, Tyler Carpenter and Cole, and her granddaughter Madison. She also had a great-granddaughter named McKinley. Cathy's beloved cat, Felix, was a constant companion and source of comfort to her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Russel Carpenter, as well as her parents, Emily and Kenneth Rumsey. Cathy was also preceded in death by her brothers, Kenneth and Frank Rumsey, and her sister, Cynthia Burns.
Cathy attended Wallkill High School in her youth. She was known for her intelligence and beauty, and her warm-hearted nature touched the lives of many.
A private family celebration of life will be planned soon to honor Cathy's memory. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that any gifts be donated to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Heart Disease Associations. Contributions to these organizations will help support causes that were close to Cathy's heart.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the Carpenter family during this difficult time. May Cathy's soul rest in eternal peace.
