Sandra "Sandy" Eichner Burgess, 64, of North Charleston, wife of Terry L. Burgess, passed away on Saturday, November 9, 2013 at Medical University of SC.
Friends and family called at James A. Dyal Funeral Home on Monday, November 11, 2013 from 6 o'clock until 8 o'clock PM. Funeral Services were held on Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at 3 o'clock PM at James A. Dyal Funeral Home. Burial followed at Dorchester Memory Gardens, 11000 Dorchester Road, Summerville.
Sandy was born on April 29, 1949 in Pickens, SC. She was reared by her grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Brian R. Doty. She graduated from Pickens High School, Class of 1967 in Pickens, SC and attended Greenville Tech in Greenville, SC. Sandy was a born again Jew. Two of her favorite scriptures were II Timothy 4:7 which says, "I have fought a good fight, finished my course and I have kept the faith" and II Corinthians 5:8, "To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord." Sandy and Terry became one on July 19, 1975. They were married for 38 wonderful years. Sandy loved to play gospel songs and played the piano in several churches, Open Door, Easley, SC, Hanahan Baptist Church in Hanahan, SC and Blessed Hope Baptist Church in Ladson where she was also a member. She was previously employed by Snelling & Snelling in Greenville, SC and Fanning Personnel in Kansas City, MO. Sandy was co-owner of Parker Personnel in Kansas City, MO and co-owner of Careers of Charleston in Charleston, SC. She also managed ATC Nursing, Staff Relief Nursing and Medical Staffing Network all which are in Charleston, SC. Sandy and her husband, Terry were also owners of several restaurants, Bantam Chef located in Piedmont, SC, Easley, SC, Clinton, SC Andrews, SC and North Charleston and Greenhouse Restaurant in North Charleston. Sandy loved people and being around them.
Surviving in addition to her husband Terry are: one daughter: Carol Bordwell of North Charleston; two granddaughters: Victoria Brown of North Charleston and Rose Schneider of Goose Creek; one great granddaughter: Chyanne Schneider of North Charleston; aunt: Dot Gravely of Pickens, SC; brother-in-law: Tim Burke of Chesnee, SC; host of cousins. She was predeceased by her parents Herman Eichner and Francis Doty Chapin and one sister, Tabitha Thomas.
