James M. Freeman

Bixby, OK

James Marvin "Sonny" Freeman, 76, Bixby, Oklahoma, passed away February 10th at Clarehouse Community Home for the Dying in Tulsa Oklahoma.

He grew up in Henderson County and later joined the Army, where he was a Medic and Surgery Assistant. After serving in the Army, he became a pilot and flew for Delta Airlines for many years until the tragic hijacking at Dallas-Ft. Worth in 1974, where he lost a best friend and co-worker. After becoming disabled from flying, he went into the computer programming business where he wrote programs for large industries, including Delta. He remained in the computer business until he became disabled due to Parkinson 's disease.

He was preceded in death by his parents Marvin and Marie Freeman, grandparents, and his nephew Tommy Nelson.

He is survived by his sister, Helen "Sissy" Freeman Nelson of Henderson. He is also survived by his wife of 58 years, Betty; children Lisa Simpson (Donnie) of Harrisburg, Il; Cindy Merrill (Lance) , Jeff Freeman (Michelle) and Phillip Freeman (Adrienne) of Bixby Oklahoma, 7 grandchildren, nieces Diana Jackson and Amy Coney of Henderson, and other nieces, nephews and cousins.

A time of visitation and remembrance will be held at Bellfield Baptist Church, Thursday Feb 15th from 6-8pm.

My condolences goes out to the family during this difficult time. May you find a measure of comfort found in God's promise at John 6:40 which says that soon we will all see our loved ones again.
