Goodson, Ray M. Age 89, passed away Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at Presence St. Joseph Medical Center. Preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Eva (Rossio) Goodson; sisters, Lila Stang and Aileen Houk; brother, Glen Goodson. Survived by his wife of 66 years, Doris (Dodge) Goodson; sons, Ray Goodson, Tom (Marjorie) Goodson; daughters, Susan (Kurt) Cowger and Laurie (Butch) Fahrner; grandchildren, Derek (Ashley) Goodson, Kevin Goodson, Evan (Samantha) Fahrner, Emily Fahrner, Kyle (Heidi) Cowger and Korbin Cowger; great-grandchildren, Nolan, Sydney, Colin, Keaton, Brenna, Kyra, Kaylee and Oliver. Born in Joliet, a lifelong resident. Graduated from Joliet Township High School. WWII Air Force Veteran serving with the 451st Bomber Group. Ray was a 2nd Lieutenant and received a Purple Heart. Ex POW, shot down over Germany twice, imprisoned at Barth Germany for duration of the war. Retired from Olin Chemical. Ray was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Cantigny Post # 367 V.F.W., DAV Illinois Chapter 103 and the Fox Valley American Ex POW. He was an avid outdoors man, loved fishing, golfing and his family. As per Ray's wishes there will be no services. Burial of his cremains will take place at a later date at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.
