Raymond A. "Moose" Kure Obituary
Kure, Raymond A. "Moose" Age 78, passed away peacefully on Monday, November11, 2013. Born on January 14, 1935 in Joliet, IL to Joseph and Mary Kure. Life-long resident of Lockport, IL. U.S. Air Force Korean War Veteran. Raymond retired from Lockport Ironworks where he was an iron worker / crane operator. Member of Iron Workers Local #444 and American LegionJohn Olson Post #18. An avid photographer, he enjoyed nature, wildlife, camping and traveling, Native American culture, antiques and his John Deere tractor. A talented artist and craftsman, he helped build his belovedlog home, "Trail's End," where he resided for 35 years with his devoted wife, Joy, two children, various cats, dogs and a pet peacock. Survived by his wife of 57 years, Joylyn "Joy" (Boldt) Kure; one son, Lee Kure of Dexter, MO; one daughter, Kelly Kure of Sarasota, FL; grandfather of Jennifer (Dennis) Franklin of Naples, FL; great- grandfather of Ilyssa Jackson, Ethan and Addisen Franklin of Naples, FL. Also survived by a sister, Dorothy McGinn; loving in-laws; numerous nephews, nieces and friends. Preceded in death by his parents, Mary (Nemanich) and Joseph; four brothers, Frank "Bim", Joseph "Goose", Edward "Batch" and John "Max" Kure; two sisters, Anne Anderson and Theresa Ernest. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Kure family, which will be donated to various local charities, would be appreciated. Services will be held Monday, November 18, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. in the O'Neil Funeral Home Chapel, 1105 E. 9th St. (159TH St.), Lockport with Rev. Glenn Burgmark officiating. Interment, Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood. Visitation, Sunday, November 17, 2013 in the O'Neil Funeral Home Chapel from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
