Rodney E. Hamon Obituary
Hamon, Rodney E. 81, of Braidwood, IL, passed away at home on November 26, 2013, with his family at his side. Rodney was born in Wichita, KS, to Fred and Deloras Hamon. A 36-year Braidwood area resident, he retired from the United States Postal Service. Rodney was a U.S. Air Force veteran serving as a firefighter during the Korean War. Rodney was a member of the Wilmington VFW and a member of the Wednesday and Friday Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery Memorial Squads. He was also honored to be part of the Honor Flight Chicago trip in April 2013. Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Sandy (Bell); son, Michael, Braidwood; grandsons, Jason and Ryan, Missouri, Heather, Alabama; brother-in-law, Ray (Earla) Bell, Wyoming; 6 great-grandchildren; a special cousin, Ron (Roberta) Mau, New Lenox. Preceded in death by a son, Robert, 1991; his parents and a sister, Frances Ebersole, Arizona. Rodney was devoted to his family and fellow veterans and will be remembered as one of the best storytellers and a great writer. Inurnment Wednesday, December 11, 2013, 1:00 p.m. sharp at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.
