Sherman Gene Holden Sherman Gene Holden, age 81 years, died Monday, April 21st, 2014, at St. Joseph Medical Center. Born in Kankakee, IL. He was educated in the Kankakee Public Schools. A United States Army Veteran who served in the Korean War. He retired from Caterpillar in 1999. Preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, two brothers and one granddaughter. Survived by his devoted wife of 40 years Annie; Two daughters: Valerie (Al) Slaughter of Colorado Springs, CO and Sherlene Holden of Kankakee, IL; His stepchildren: Yetta (Austin) Williams of Syracuse, NY, Eunice Hubbard of Chicago, IL, Regina (Thomas) Martin and Lionel (Lori) Ealy both ofJoliet, IL; Three sisters: Eddie L. Sanders of Las Vegas, NV, Comerita (Frank) Stokely and Billie L. Holden, both of Kankakee, IL; Two brothers: Maceo Holden of Edan Prairie, MN and Herbert Holden of San Antonio, TX; 15 grandchildren, 5 great- grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. Funeral services will be Monday 11:00 AM at Brown Chapel A.M.E. Church, 1502 Mills Road, Joliet, IL 60433 with visitation 10:00am-11:00am. Interment and Military Honors at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery (Elwood, IL). Reverend Lishers Mahone, officiating.
