William "Mac" R. McKeehan, age 81, of Joliet, passed away peacefully, Friday, August 8, 2014, at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home surrounded by his loving family.

Born May 14, 1933, in Greenback, TN to the late Winnie (nee Arp) and Cleve McKeehan, he was raised in the Greenback area. He moved to Lockport in 1964, and had resided in the Joliet area for many years, the last 11 at Essington Place where he enjoyed many friendships, including John and Marion.

A U.S Navy Veteran who served during the Korean War. Mac retired from Fisher Body of Willow Springs in the late 1980's after many years of service.

Beloved husband of 56 years to Betsy (nee Amburn) McKeehan; loving father of Sharon (Carl) Slick, Jr. of Channahon, Lisa (Steve) Brinkman of Joliet; proud grandpa of Carl (Faith) Slick III, Adam (Kimberly) Slick, Tiffany (William) Mareno, Nikki (James) Houston, Cheri (Erik) Swanson and Nina (Justin) Strode; dear great-grandpa of nine, (and soon will be 10); also survived by one brother, Vernon McKeehan; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Hoyt, Charles and Jessie McKeehan; and one sister, Roxy Holt.

Mac was a former member of the Lockport Moose Lodge. His hobbies included woodworking, camping and fishing. He also was a ham radio enthusiast and a very dedicated Tennessee Vols fan.

The McKeehan's would like to extend their gratitude to Dr. Ramesh, Dr. Kron and Dr. Gustafson for their most wonderful care.

Funeral Services for William R. McKeehan will be held on Monday, August 11, 2014, at 12:30 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet. His son-in-law, Eric Swanson will officiate. Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name to Joliet Area Community Hospice would be appreciated.

Visitation MONDAY MORNING, 10:30 a.m. until the time of service at 12:30 p.m.
