Dale R. Chapman
Dale R. Chapman, 65, of Morris, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 2, 2015, at Morris Hospital. Born in Morris, he was the son of the late Russell and Louise (Johnson) Chapman.
Raised and educated in rural Yorkville, Dale attended Plattville Grade School and graduated from Yorkville High School with the Class of 1968. He married Lynda Stokes on February 21, 1970.
Dale worked for 30 years at Commonwealth Edison in Joliet. He was an auctioneer with his dad for over 30 years and a Little League coach in Newark for over a decade. He loved sports, fishing, taking trips to Wisconsin, and was an avid Chicago White Sox fan. Dale especially loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was "generous to a fault."
He is survived by his wife, Lynda; four sons, Michael of Morris, Jeffery (Melinda) of Woodridge, Philip (Shari) of Newark, and Daniel of Morris; grandchildren, Zachary, Mason, Peyton, Allison, Mattie, Jacob, Molly, and Reggie; a sister, Doris (Ken) Walters of Lisbon; and a brother, Kim Chapman of Plattville; several nieces and nephews, and many loving cousins.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents.
A visitation for Dale will be held on Monday, October 5, 2015, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the U.C. Davis-Callahan Funeral Home, located at 301 W. Washington Street in Morris. Enhanced video tributes will be playing during the visitation. A Celebration of Dale's Life will follow at noon with Pastor Phil Chapman officiating, accompanied by Pastor Steve Larson of First Baptist Church of Morris. Burial will be at West Lisbon Cemetery in Lisbon.
Memorials for Dale may be made to the family for distribution to local charities at a later date.
