Emanuel Strong of Joliet passed away Friday, July 6, 2018 at Joliet Area Community Hospice.

Emanuel was born, April 20, 1941 to the late Alma (nee DeBois) and Emanuel Strong in Bay Springs, Mississippi.

He graduated from Bay Springs High School in Bay Springs, Mississippi and enlisted in the United States Air Force and served from July 1962 to July 1968. He was employed by Caterpillar Inc. in which he worked as a machinist for over 30 years retiring in January 1998.

Emanuel is preceded in death by his parents, Alma and Emanuel Strong; son, Dwayne R. Strong; two sisters, Ceola Barnes, Dessie Rhodes; four brothers, L.C. Strong, G.C. Strong, Nathan Strong and Quitman Strong.

Emanuel is survived by his wife, Mollie Strong; three daughters, Yolande Strong of Bloomington, Illinois, Charone Strong and Dzintra Strong of Joliet, Illinois; daughter-in-law, Dionne Strong of U.K.; two grandsons, Darien Strong of Beltsville, Maryland and DeShaun Strong of U.K.; and one step-grandson, Dwayne Blake of U.K.; one granddaughter, Araniyah Vidales; one god-son, Christopher L. Thompson; three brothers; Orge Strong of Bay Springs, Mississippi, P.C. (Bettye) Strong of Memphis, Tennessee, and Andrew Strong of Tupelo, Mississippi; and one sister, Alma L. Flowers of Atlanta, Georgia; close friend, Leon Thompson and special cousin, Oscar McCullum; host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 12, 2018 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at the funeral home and Friday, July 13, 2018 from 9:00 to 10:00 am at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 402 Singleton Place, Joliet, IL. Service at 10:00 am, Pastor Jonathan Mills, officiating. Interment will be immediately following services at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, Illinois.
