Floy Pelletier Obituary

Dr. Floy Pelletier

Born: August 23, 1917

Died: November 6, 2018

Dr. Floy "Doc" Pelletier, at 101 years of age, passed away peacefully at his home on November 6, 2018. He was born in Newton, Illinois on August 23, 1917. He attended and graduated from Auburn High School, received his BS degree from University of Illinois, his master's degree from University of Nebraska and his Doctorate in Chemistry from the University of Illinois. Doc married his beloved Helen (Romine) on August 31, 1941. He was a 1st Lieutenant in the United States Army Air Corp from 1942-1946, serving in the Pacific Theater as an Air Sea Rescue Pilot.

Doc owned Pelron Corporation in partnership with his dear friend, Ed Eubank, and up until mid-September was still driving to work four days a week. He was an avid golfer. You could find him with his many close friends at Big Run Golf Course right up until the end of this year's golf season. In the fall and winter months Doc would be in the stands watching the Lockport Porters with his friend, Joe Czerkies and surrounded by other friends. He enjoyed the home Illinois football games and tailgated for years with family and friends, always saving any Michigan tickets to attend with his nephew Nelson and wife, Phyllis. Doc shared his Chicago Bears season tickets with everyone and never missed a home game. He was also sure to invite his nephew, Paul and wife, Kaye down to enjoy the Green Bay game with him. For his 100th birthday, having owned season tickets for 60+ years, the McCaskey family treated him to a game in a suite with some of his closest friends. He went on the field for the coin toss and enjoyed a conversation with the charming Virginia Halas McCaskey and her son, George. That day was a highlight of his life!

Doc was preceded in death by Helen in 2011. His siblings, Vera, Paul, and Max also preceded him death.

He is survived by his sister, Francine; his sister-in-law, Joanna Romine and his brother-in-law, Reggie (Elaine) Romine; many nieces and nephews; as well as special friends Ken and Barbara Jo (BJ) Ferry and Phil and Nancy Mormann.

The family wishes to thank his kind caregiver for the past month, Gerry.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Lockport Lions Club in Floy's memory would be appreciated.

To know Floy "Doc" Pelletier was to love him. He always craved more time with the ones he loved. He soaked up every morsel of this earthly life with a delightful balance of grit and grace. Rest in peace, dear Doc.

Per Floy's request, cremation rites were respectfully addressed and inurnment was private.

To the Family and Friends of Floy,
Floy was so giving and special along with his wife Helen. My Dad and brother use to go out to their property to fish so many times.
I met Helen when I worked at LTHS , and what a beautiful person. So kind and caring for everyone she knew, a wonderful teacher!
May they Rest In Peace, now together again.
