John "Max" Kure Obituary
Kure, John "Max" Age 82, late of Lockport, passed away peacefully Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at his residence with his family by his side. Born in Joliet, lifelong Lockport resident. Owner and Operator of Kure Steel/Lockport Iron Works for many years, where he worked up till the end. John loved his business where he especially enjoyed bidding jobs and reading blueprints. U.S. Army Korean War Veteran, Deep Sea Diver. He was the oldest living Deep Sea Diver from the Army. Member of the U.S. Army Divers Association, Iron Workers Local #444, St. Joseph Church, Lockport. He enjoyed the summer especially laying by the pool soaking up the sun. Most of all he was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and dear friend to many. Preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mary (Nemanich) Kure; three brothers, Frank "Bim", Joseph "Goose", Edward "Batch" Kure; two sisters, Anne Anderson and Theresa "Terry" Ernest. Survived by his devoted wife of 61 years, Elsie (Taskay) Kure; loving children, Debbie Kure of Lockport, Kathy (Tom) Finnen of Lockport, Pam (Steve) Grogan of Las Vegas, Nevada, John (Jami) Kure of Lockport, Randy (Diane) Kure of Lockport and Bryan (Lisa) Kure of Bolingbrook; eight cherished grandchildren, Nicholas (Jen) Finnen, Emily Finnen, Tyler (Ashley Cotter) Finnen, Kylee (Leith) Crowther, John Kure, Charlee Kure, Dylan and Austin Kure; five great-grandchildren, Bella, Mia, Amelia, Eleanor and Audrey; one brother, Raymond "Moose" (Joy) Kure of Lockport; and one sister, Dorothy McGinn of Lockport; sisters-in-law, Dorothy and Christine Kure; and numerous nephews, nieces and many friends also survive. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Kure family which will be donated to various local charities would be appreciated. Services will be held Thursday at 9:30am in the O'Neil Funeral Home Chapel 1105 E. 9th St., Lockport, to St. Joseph Church, Lockport for Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am. Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood. Visitation Wednesday in the O'Neil Funeral Home Chapel from 4:00pm until 8:00pm.
