So sorry to look in Obits and I see Kenny McMillin. I hunt on the farm for rabbits, pheasants, fox, and coyotes. One dry winter day, Jerry Feeney and I walk a long way hunting and see nothing, not a rabbit, not a pheasant, not a quail, and on our way out of the fields Jerry flushes and shoot a mouse with his double barrel four ten, on the run twenty-five feet away, and he carries this mouse by the tail petting it like Lenny in Mice and Men. Monday morning, this hunting trophy turns into a present for the literature teacher so she shrieks when she finds this mouse on her desk. I go to Channahon grade school and Minooka high school with Kathy and Kent, and years later after graduating I publish book, Raise the Flag: Lean Thy Arms, with stories about learning in school, after school, before, and from experience.
