Terry Eugene Jones was born June 4, 1952 to Sam Hurdle and Algertha Hurdle in Sikeston, MO. He moved to Joliet, Illinois with his family at a young age.

Terry attended Joliet Public Schools and graduated from Joliet Central High School. He enlisted in the United States Army, received a National Defense Service Medal Sharpshooter and was honorably discharged in 1975.

He always admired sport cars, so much so he and his childhood friend, Harland Creal bought the same vehicles but in different colors. He enjoyed gardening, cooking, shooting pool, racing cars and being in the company of his brother, Marvin, as they were inseparable. Terry enjoyed his nature walks and riding his bicycle. Terry had many employment opportunities and was lastly employed as a machine operator for the Filtration Group, Inc. in Joliet, Illinois.

Terry is preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Algertha Hurdle; maternal and paternal grandparents; one sister, Yvonne Hurdle-Autman; one brother, Michael "Pete" Hurdle; and one sister-in-law.

He passed away peacefully in his home on Monday, July 2, 2018.

He is survived by his two loving children, Castor (Dorcas) Franklin of Bolingbrook, IL and Whitney D. Franklin of Joliet, IL; four brothers, Donald Jones, Marvin (Gladys) Jones, Larry Riley and Kevin Hurdle; four grandchildren, Imani Franklin, Davari Franklin, Vanessa Franklin and Joe Franklin; the mother of his children, Gale Franklin; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Visitation will be held Monday, July 16, 2018 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at St. John M.B. Church, 104 E. Zarley Blvd., Joliet, IL, Pastor Herbert Brooks, Jr. Service at 12:30 PM, Minister Taro Autman, Jr., officiating. Interment following at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL.
