Hanne Sweetnam-Boyd Obituary
Dr. Hanne T. Sweetnam-Boyd (nee) Petersen, age 79, passed away suddenly, Sunday August 14, 2016 at her Home.
Survived by two sisters, Paula (late Donald) Pritchett and Ellen Janiec; two grandchildren Andrea (Chris) Burtram and Gregory (Candice) Chovanec; three great grandchildren; Bill's grandchildren, Josh and Becca; six nieces and nephews; and 11 great nieces and nephews. Many cousins and extended family in Denmark the birthplace of her parents.
Preceded in death by her husbands, Dr. George B. Sweetnam and William Boyd; daughter, Robin Chovanec; parents Aksel and Else (Henriksen) Petersen.
Born in Wooster Lake, IL, living in Joliet since the early 1960's. Hanne and George owned Sweetnam and Associates Dental Office. She was a member of Grace Episcopal Church in New Lenox and the Illinois Dental Society. Former member of the Will-Grundy Medical Clinic, Zonta Club of the Joliet Area and the Joliet Yacht Club.
Visitation will be held Thursday August 18, 2016 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Blackburn-Giegerich-Sonntag Funeral Home. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Multiple Sclerosis Society or the Will-Grundy Medical Clinic would be appreciated.

My Condolences to the family... I'm going to really miss Dr. Sweetnam- when I was a kid I thought her last man was Sweets- I thought "oh wow her name matches teeth". My mother started taking me to her when I was three years old. I grew up only trusting her on my teeth and literally stayed with her till she retired.. I was with her for over 20 something years and I'll never forget her warm and gentle smile:) Very nice sweet lady. She did all my cavities and constantly told me to stay away from the sweets lol- when she told me she was retiring I was heart broken... When someone makes a huge impact in your life you'll never forget them. I'm going to miss her.

I'm so sorry to hear of Hanne's passing. I worked for George and Hanne decades ago. They treated their employees like family and I have many happy memories of fun times with them. My condolences to the family.

Hanne and I were colleagues and friends. I will miss our conversations and laughs at Will County Dental Society meetings. Hanne was a tireless volunteer and dedicated professional. My condolences to her family.

Dr. Hanne and I were on the WGMC Board together. I will always remember her gentle smile. I made the wedding cake when she and Bill married - I was honored that she asked. May her memory be eternal.
