Ardis M. Cassani

Born: February 24, 1923; in Wilmington, IL

Died: March 6, 2017; in Joliet, IL

Ardis M. Cassani (nee Greene), age 94, of Joliet, passed away peacefully Monday, March 6, 2017 at Rock Run Place in Joliet, with her family at her side.

She was born February 24, 1923 in Wilmington, and was a graduate of the Pestalozzi-Froebel Teacher's College in Chicago. She taught for over 30 years at Fairmont Grade School in Lockport.

Ardis gave generously of herself to her family, her profession, her church, and her community. She was a pillar of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where she served as Eucharistic Minister, and cared for the church, the rectory and the parish priest, in addition to many other responsibilities and caring acts on behalf of her church family. In their retirement, she and her husband were active volunteers for Meals on Wheels and loved to go bowling.

She was the beloved mother of Marie (late Kenneth) Swearingian and Larry (Lana Conley) Cassani; dear grandmother of Jennifer (Kevin) Kantorski, Catherine (Jeff) Hoffman, Tony (Kelly) Cassani and Kate (Eric) Waldinger; and proud great grandmother of six. She is also survived by Jayne Cassani; one sister, Judy (Gerald) Swango; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her beloved husband of 68 years, Albert B. Cassani (2010); her parents, David and Adele (nee Yuill) Greene; two sisters, Lois Palmer and Ione Hahn; and two brothers, David Yuill Greene and James Greene.

Visitation for Ardis M. Cassani will be Thursday, March 9, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Heart Catholic Church, 337 S Ottawa St, Joliet, IL, and will be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name can be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church or the Alzheimer's Association.

There are teachers you remember thru the years and Mrs. Cassani was my fifth grade teacher at Fairmont in the '50s. She was an excellent reason we succeeded in life. God will welcome her with open arms. Condolences to the family, she was the best, you were very lucky!
