Calvin Laffoon Obituary

Calvin T. Laffoon, 84, Monticello, died at 4:32 p.m., Friday, Feb. 12, 2010, at Indiana University Medical Center, Indianapolis.
He was born at Fair Oaks on May 8, 1925, to Edward and Eddie (Kielmeir) Laffoon. He married Geraldine "Gerry" Duever at Valparaiso on Feb. 14, 1948. She survives in Monticello.
He was a 1943 graduate of Mt. Ayre High School.
He served in the United States Navy during World War II where he was stationed in the South Pacific as a radio man 3rd class aboard the USS Windsor.
He was a lineman for NIPSCO retiring in 1983 after 31 1/2 years of service.
He had been a member of the Conservation Club formerly of Reynolds.
He loved farming. He also loved deer hunting, fishing, and crow shooting from which he received many awards and trophies. He also enjoyed pitching horseshoes and helping others.
Other survivors include companion, Phyllis Cadwallader, Monticello; son, Dennis (Brenda) Laffoon, Fort Wayne; daughters, Carol (Terry) Foreman, Macy, Donna Gray, Lafayette, Deborah Robinson, Idaville, Tabby (Ed) Kohley and Melissa (Shawn) Downey, both of Monticello, Tanya (husband Jeff Kremer) Cadwallader, Kokomo; brothers, Wayne (Vivian) Laffoon, Elkhart, Mike Laffoon, Morocco, Pat (Jan) Laffoon, Middleberry, Gene (Skip) Laffoon, Mississippi; sister, Katherine George, Rensselaer; 17 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren.
Three brothers and two sisters are deceased.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home, Monticello. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home with Pastor Jim Ward of New Hope Lutheran Church officiating.
Burial will be at Riverview IOOF Cemetery, rural Monticello.
Memorials may be made to Riley Children's Hospital.

He was a good man, and was such a blessing always to my mom. He could always make her laugh. He will be greatly missed by our family.
