Marsella Ann Sterrett, 89 Chalmers, died at 11:17 a.m. July 30, 2014, at IU Health Arnett, Lafayette.
She was born on May 1, 1925 at the family home in Monticello to the late Kenneth and Zelda (Sell) Nelson. On Nov. 8, 1943, she married the love of her life Robert Sterrett in Amarillo, Texas. Bob preceded her in death on April 10, 2004.
Marsella was a 1943 graduate of Chalmers High School. She was a member of the Chalmers Community Church. Marsella was a loyal State Farm Insurance employee from 1968 until her retirement in 1988.
She enjoyed spending time with the "coffee klatch" crew at Michael's of Chalmers Restaurant. She also enjoyed gardening. She loved flowers and her dog "Mr. Haley" but most of all Marsella cherished time spent with her family.
She is survived by her children, Dennis (Mary) Sterrett, Chalmers, Diana (Larry) Kiser, Chalmers, Debby (Greg) Williams, Jonesborough, Tenn., Darrell (Cindy) Sterrett, Chalmers, and Dwayne (Rena) Sterrett, Monon; 13 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Along with her husband and parents, Marsella was also preceded in death by her brother, Frank Nelson and great-granddaughter, Brittany Brookshire.
Friends may call from 4 - 8 p.m. today, Friday, at Hartzler-Clapper Funeral Home in Brookston.
Funeral Service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Rev. Bill Henderson officiating.
Interment will follow at Chalmers Cemetery in Chalmers.
In addition to flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Marsella's name to the Chalmers Community Church.
