Nancy L. Manship, 80, Monticello, passed away at 8:55 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, 2014, at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born Nov. 12, 1933 in Madison County to the late Roy G. and Nancy L. (Jarrett) Sylvester and was a graduate of Orleans High School.
Her marriage was to Lawrence "Elywn" Manship in February of 1952. Their family lived in Fortville until moving to Florida in 1969. They lived in Palmetto and Okeechobee. Mrs. Manship worked at Ft. Benjamin Harrison in the Finance Center for Florida Power and Light and many years at Wal-Mart, retiring in 2000. Elywn passed away in March of 2001 prompting Nancy to move back to Indiana to be next to family. While in Monticello she was a member of Faith Covenant Fellowship Church.
Nancy enjoyed boating and had a special compassion for animals.
Surviving is a daughter, Roieann (Charlie) Soliday, Monticello; a sister, Idamonte (Marcus) Barcus, Pendleton; a grandson, Eric Varnador, Monticello; a granddaughter, Samantha (Clint) Chamberlain, Monticello; and her great-grandson, Briar "Little Bones" Chamberlain. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death with her parents and husband is a son, Stanley Manship and a sister.
A celebration of Nancy's life will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13 at Faith Covenant Fellowship Church, 570 South Maple Street, Monticello.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the IU Health Arnett Hospice.
