Halloran, John W. - Norwalk  
Norwalk & Shelton Resident John W. (Jack) Halloran of Shelton and Norwalk, CT, formerly of Fairfield and Darien, CT died peacefully at his home in Shelton on April 17, 2015 surrounded by his wife and family. John known as “Jack” was born in Norwalk, CT on September 29, 1932 to Richard and Helen Barry Halloran. He grew up in Norwalk, attended St. Mary’s School, Fairfield Prep (Class of 1950) and graduated from Fairfield University in 1954 with a B.S. in Accounting. Jack began his accounting career at Machlett Laboratories in Stamford, CT and later at Robinson Preece in Norwalk. He was a founding partner of Giacomini & Halloran where he spent the majority of his career as a Certified Public Accountant until his retirement in January. Jack and his first wife, Paula (who died in 1984) raised their family in Norwalk and lived there for a number of years before moving to Darien. Jack was involved in many community activities during his time in Darien where he and Paula raised their four children. He was on the Board of Directors at the Darien YMCA, the Sewer Commission for the town of Darien, the St. Thomas More Parish Council, the Darien Little League, YMCA Indian Guides and the Ox Ridge School PTA. During his years in Norwalk, he served on the Norwalk Planning & Zoning Commission, the Tracey School PTA, and he was a past president & member of the Norwalk Exchange Club, the Norwalk Catholic Club, Shore & Country Club and the Silvermine Golf Club. He was also a past member of St. Luke’s Parish Council and he and Mary Lou were part of the St. Luke’s Christmas Fair committee. Jack is survived by his wife, Mary Lou Halloran of Shelton, CT, four children: Beth Breck of New Canaan, CT, Jane Halloran Ryan of Tulla, County Clare, Ireland, Barry J. Halloran of Vienna, VA, and Paula Louise Halloran of New Canaan, CT. He is also survived by two step-children: Dennis Hrbek of Trumbull, CT and Kim Redmond of Monroe, CT. He was “Pop” to nine grandchildren: Jack III Fitz, and Ryan Halloran of Vienna, VA; Lindsay, Emily, Gillian, Michael and Daniel Ryan of Tulla,County Clare, Ireland; and Teagen Halloran of New Canaan, CT, and three step-grandchildren: Sarah and James Redmond of Monroe, CT and Ellie Hrbek of Trumbull, CT. In addition, he is survived by his much loved nieces and nephews: Susie, Joe, Ellen, Roberta, Kathy Mae, Dunn & Tim, as well as his godson, John O’Keeffe, many cousins and extended family throughout Norwalk and in Ireland. Friends may call Sunday from 2:00 to 6:00 PM at Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Avenue, Norwalk. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10:00 AM in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 203 East Avenue, Norwalk. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery, Darien. Kindilien, Maria T. "Mary" - Norwalk  
Maria “Mary” T. Kindilien, age 93, lifelong resident of Norwalk, died on Thursday, April 16, 2015 at her home after a 5 year battle with cancer. Born in Marsala, Sicily, Italy, the daughter of the late Victor and Rose (Chirco) Licari, she was the devoted wife of the late Edward W. Kindilien. Mary worked as a machine operator at Harlick Bag for many years and also for Myers Handbag and was a member of St. Joseph Church. She is survived by her two daughters Janice A. Taccone and her husband Gaetano and Donna M. Kindilien; three cherished grandchildren Joseph Taccone and his wife Natalia, Lisa and Laura Taccone and a great-granddaughter, Gabriella Taccone, all of Norwalk; a sister Anne Frazier and a brother Victor Licari Jr. and his fiancée Beverly Kochiss, and many nieces and nephews. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, April 21 (time to be announced) at St. Joseph Church, 85 S. Main St., Norwalk with burial to follow at St. John Cemetery. Her family will receive friends on Monday from 5 to 8 pm at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave., Norwalk. Matregrano, Dennis - Norwalk  
Dennis Charles Matregrano, 62, of Norwalk, Connecticut passed away suddenly on Sunday, April 12, 2015. Dennis is survived by his wife of 32 years, Ann (Kozma) Matregrano and his three sons Timothy Dennis Matregrano and future daughter-in-law Kelly Hewitt, Douglas Charles Matregrano and Steven James Matregrano. He also leaves his brother Vincent (Paula) Matregrano of Branford, CT; his sister Lisa Matregrano of Danbury, CT; nephews Daniel Mahoney and Vincent (Didi) Matregrano; nieces Melanie Matregrano, Melissa Kozma and Allison Kozma and several grand nieces and nephews. Dennis was born on May 20, 1952 in Norwalk to the late Vincent (Jim) Matregrano and Mary (Honey) Schede Matregrano. He was also predeceased by his sister, Sharon Matregrano. Dennis also leaves his beloved cats, Munchie and Shadow. Dennis loved to spend time with his sons, coaching them in Ben Whone National Little League and Norwalk Junior Soccer. Dennis also volunteered his time as treasurer and vice president of the Brien McMahon Football Booster Club. He enjoyed playing sports including softball in Norwalk for many years on the team he shared with his brother Vinny named the “Colonials” and later for “T’s Aces”. He was also a bowler on the Rascal’s team in the Strugglers League of Norwalk for many years as well. He had a love for classic cars and attending car shows with his sons and great friends. Over the years, he enjoyed playing his drums, model railroading, and landscaping his yard. Dennis was a 1970 graduate of Brien McMahon High School in Norwalk. He worked for Stamford Insulation for many years, following that he was a former partner of American Building Components Corp. He has spent the past 17 years with Hocon Gas in Norwalk as a Sales Representative, and had been a member of the Home Builders & Remodelers Association of Fairfield County. The family will receive friends at Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Avenue, Norwalk on Sunday April 19 from 4pm - 7pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am at St. Matthew Church, 216 Scribner Ave., Norwalk. Interment will follow at St. John’s Cemetery, Norwalk. In lieu of flowers, a fund has been established to assist Dennis’ three sons in continuing their college educations. Regenstreif, Jeanette - Reno  
Jeanette Regenstreif, 96, passed away peacefully in Reno, NV on April 16, 2015. Formerly of Fairfield, CT and Boynton Beach, FL, she was born in Stamford, CT on March 22, 1919, the daughter of the late Michael Steinberg and Rae Osmansky Steinberg. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 59 years, Samuel Regenstreif. A graduate of Norwalk High School and Beaver College, Jeanette received her Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Bridgeport. She worked as a geriatric social worker for many years. Jeanette was very active in community causes throughout her life, always with much creative and artistic talent. She was president of the Fairfield Garden Club, served on the Board of Directors of the University of Bridgeport, and was a life supporter of Hadassah and JNF. Jeanette is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Jerry and Neysa Regent of Reno, NV; her daughter and son-in-law Ellen and Gary Stern of Nashua, NH and her beloved granddaughter Randee and her husband Andrew Bunin of Bedford, MA. She is also survived by her brother and sister-in law Dr. Harold and Sybil Steinberg and sister Mimi Edlin. Above all, Jeanette adored her family. She will forever be remembered for her impeccable sense of style, her remarkable artistic talents, and her everlasting displays of generosity. Family and friends are invited to attend graveside services at Temple Israel Cemetery, Richards Ave., Norwalk, CT at 1 pm on Sunday. Tirella Sr., Ralph C. - Oxford  
Formerly of Norwalk &Wilton Ralph C. Tirella Sr, age 76, of Oxford, beloved husband of Nancy (McGarry) Tirella for 57 years, died on Friday April 17, 2015 at St. Vincent’s MC, Bridgeport. Born in Norwalk, the son of the late Carmine and Lauretta (DePalma) Tirella, he attended Norwalk and Wilton schools and worked for Hocon Gas for over 40 years, retiring as VP of Sales. Having lived in Wilton for 42 years, he was a member of the Wilton Police Auxiliary, as well as the Eagles Club, and was an honorary member of the American Legion in Oxford. He enjoyed weight training in his youth as well as hunting and fishing. In addition to his loving wife, Ralph is survived by their children; Ralph (Lorraine) Tirella Jr of Oxford, Elaine (Bruce) Miner of Beacon Falls, and Patrick (Michelle) Tirella of Ansonia, 7 cherished grandchildren; Ralph C. III, Jennifer and Kevin Tirella, Matthew and Melissa Tirella and Everett and Eric Miner, as well as a great grandson Philip J. Tirella, a sister, Catherine and many other friends and relatives. His family will receive friends on Tuesday from 4 - 8 PM at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave, Norwalk. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday at 11AM at St. Philip Church, 1 Fr. Vochis, Laura - Southbury  
Laura W. Vochis, 69, an 8 year resident of Heritage Village, wife of Charles Vochis, died peacefully Thursday, April 16, 2015 at the Lutheran Home of Southbury with her husband by her side. Laura was born in North Plainfield, NJ, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Wolff. She was very active with the Norwalk Junior Women’s Club, Friends of the New Milford Library and the Rocking Roosters square dance club in Newtown. In addition to her husband, Charles, Laura is survived by her son Michael Vochis his wife Stella and grandchildren Alexander and Nicholas of New Milford; her son Gregory Vochis and his fiancée Sarah of Littleton, Colorado; her sister-in law Mary Vallas of Norwalk and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Isaac E. Ballard, 92, transitioned peacefully on March 31, 2015. He was born on May 25, 1922 in Norwalk, Connecticut; son of the late Isaac Ballard and Ann Anderson Ballard. Mr. Ballard was predeceased by his wife Bernice Mason Ballard; his daughter Pauline Ballard; two sons Dewey Ballard and Marc “Punkin” Ballard. Mr. Ballard served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II and was a member of the National Montford Point Marine Association of which he was recognized and awarded the Congressional Gold Medal by Congress in 2012. He was employed with the Libner Grain Company until retirement. His memory will be cherished by one daughter Bernice Ballard; two sons James Ballard and Darrell Ballard; one brother Lawrence Ballard (Dorothy) and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. Visitation will take place on Saturday, April 18, 2015 at 9:30 am followed by a service of remembrance at 10:00 am at Bethel AME Church, 19 Academy St., Norwalk, CT with Rev. Dr. Richard Wesley Clarke officiating. Services entrusted to Downer Funeral Home.

Brown, Ruthie - Norwalk  
Ruthie M. Brown, 82, transitioned peacefully on Saturday, April 11, 2015. She was born on December 18, 1932 in Aiken, South Carolina, daughter of the late Willie Coleman and Bessie Vaughns Coleman. She was married to the late Ike Brown Jr. Ruthie graduated from the University of Bridgeport and was affiliated with a number of social service organizations. She was the former Director of Neon Family Support Center until retirement. Her memory will be cherished by four sons Wilbert Brown (Brenda), Ike Brown III, Charles Brown and Forrest McClendon; two daughters Ruth Esther Brown and Thomasina McClendon; twenty three grandchildren and great grandchildren; one brother Willie Edward Ray (Joyce) and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. Ruthie was predeceased by three sons Fletcher Brown, Matthew Brown and Eldridge McClendon. Visitation will take place on Saturday, April 18, 2015 from 10:00 am - 11:00 am, followed by a service of celebration at 11:00 am at Grace Baptist Church, 17 West Ave., Norwalk, CT with Rev. Dr. Lindsay Curtis officiating. Interment will follow at Willowbrook Cemetery, Westport, CT. Services entrusted to Downer Funeral Home.

Conley, Frances - Norwalk  
Frances N. Conley, 91, of Norwalk, wife of the late Albert W. Conley, died Monday in the Norwalk Hospital. Born in Norwalk, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Anna Rogowski Lojeski, and was a lifelong Norwalk resident. Mrs. Conley was former secretary for the Darien Stamp Club, local Girl Scout leader and a board member for the Cranbury Chapel. She was a local hairdresser for years and operated the Norwalk Miniature Golf on Westport Avenue in Norwalk. Mrs. Conley was an avid camper, who camped at Acorn Acres in Bozrah, CT for twenty years; she also enjoyed cruises, word puzzles, ceramics and playing the piano and singing. Surviving are two daughters Wendy Lepore and her husband Louis of Brookfield and Lorelei Luxner formerly of Norwalk; four grandchildren Justin Luxner, Melinda Luxner, Tristan Luxner and Alanna Luxner. Mrs. Conley was predeceased by a granddaughter Lisa Lepore. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 15th at 10:30 am in St. Jerome Church, 23 Half Mile Road, Norwalk. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Broad Street, Norwalk. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday from 9:00 am to 10:00 am at Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Avenue, Norwalk.
