Angelina Casavecchi, 93, mother of Joan Schmitt, formerly of Wilton, died peacefully at Palm Gardens Nursing home in Largo, FL on Memorial Day, May 26, 2014.
“Lena” and her sisters Rose, Connie and Antoinetta were affectionately known as the “Ritzo Girls” on Godfrey Street, an Italian neighborhood in Norwalk during The Depression.
Angie volunteered as a Brownie and Girl Scout leader, meeting at Christ Church in East Norwalk. Years later she worked at Joseph Meckel Flowers and Bruce's Flowers in Norwalk, specializing in corsages.
Predeceased by husband Frank, Angie resided at the Greens of Cannondale Assisted Living in Wilton before locating to Florida to be near her daughter Barbara Swenson, grandchildren, great grandchildren and her sister Rose.
Friends may call on Wednesday, June 11, 2014 from 6:00 - 8:00pm at Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Ave., Norwalk. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, June 12, 2014 at St. Thomas Church, East Ave., Norwalk. Interment will follow at St. John's Cemetery, 223 Richards Ave., Norwalk.
