Dorothy “Dottie” MacDonald, 91, of Norwalk, passed away at Aurora Senior Living of Norwalk on Saturday, March 22, 2014. Born August 20, 1922 in Norwalk Hospital, she was the daughter of the late Edward G. and Pauline M. Panchison.
Dottie attended Norwalk schools and graduated High School in Orlando, FL. She served in the US Navy (WAVES) from 1944-46. She later worked for 31 years as a civilian at Homestead Air Force base in Florida as a secretary. In her retirement years, she returned to Connecticut, living in Danbury as well as Norwalk. Her deepest joy came from spending time with her grandchildren.
Dottie is survived by her son James MacDonald and his wife, Kerry O'Neill of Norwalk; beloved grandchildren, Patrick, Katherine, and Olivia MacDonald all of Norwalk. She is also survived by first cousins Shirley A. Vargo of Danbury, CT; Eleanor P. Wargo of Norwalk; and, Kenneth F. Paulovich of Del Mar, CA.
Memorial calling hours will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2014 from 2 - 4pm at Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Avenue, Norwalk. Burial will be private at a later date.
The family wishes to acknowledge and thank Dottie's personal caregivers along with many staff members from the Family & Children's Agency, Norwalk Hospital (ER and 7West), Aurora Senior Living, and VITAS Hospice Services.
