Francesco Frank Melchiorre, 69, husband of Karen Melchiorre of Norwalk, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, December 16, 2013.
Born October 16, 1944, in Queens, New York, h was the son of the late Michael and Antoinette (Quaranta) Melchiorre. Frank, along with his family, was a resident of Norwalk for the past 37 years.
Before retirement he worked as a cameraman for ABC Television. He covered many high profile events on ABC's Wide World of Sports such as Monday Night Football, numerous Olympic Games, MLB, the Indianapolis 500, Figure Skating and the Kentucky Derby to name a few. For his outstanding achievement in this field Frank was honored with numerous Emmy awards
Frank also enjoyed giving back to the community. He was an active member of his homeowners association and was a chaperone while his children were members of the Norwalk High School marching band. He was also an active and devoted member of the Bethany Chapel in Yonkers, New York.
He was a loving husband, father, brother, and adored his grandchildren. In addition to Karen, his wife of 45 years, Frank is survived by his son Steven and his wife Jennifer of Vancouver, British Columbia, his son Michael and his wife Brenda of Valencia, California, and his daughter Danielle and her husband Christopher Zorn of Alameda, California. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren; Sabrina & Russell Melchiorre, Julia and Alexander Melchiorre, and Amy and Kylie Zorn. His sister Grace and her husband Richard Michals of Bellmore, New York as well as several nieces and nephews also survive Frank. His sister Marie and his brother Domizio predeceased him.
Friends may call Friday, December 20, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM, with services at 7:00 PM, in Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Avenue, Norwalk. A final viewing and prayer will be held on Saturday, December 21, from 9:30 to 10:30 AM, in the funeral home. Interment will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery, 41 Hecker Avenue, Darien.
