Frederick Paul Wicke, a native Norwalker, passed away early Thursday, May 29th, at his home. He was 77 years young. Born on September 23, 1936, he was the son of Dorothy Frey Wicke and Charles William Wicke.
A proud graduate of Norwalk High School, class of '55, he attended Salem College in West Virginia. He had been employed by Nash Engineering in Norwalk and had established his own decorating business for several years. During retirement he volunteered with Special Needs children both in Rowayton, CT and in Naples, Florida. He received many awards for his devoted service in this area.
He is predeceased by his eldest son Ronald. He is survived by his loving wife Elizabeth; his daughter Debora Johannesen (Gary); son David (Rebecca); brother Charles (Barbara); daughter-in-law Ann Wicke and six grandchildren Jessica Washington (Julian), Kirsten Johannesen, Brian Wicke, Erika Wicke, Taylor Wicke and Cooper Wicke.
Fred believed that he should make the most of every day and embrace both time and people. He had a passionate interest in travel, photography, cycling and the arts. He was always full of life and had a generous personality. He valued family and friends and he will remain forever alive in our hearts.
A Memorial Service will be held at the convenience of his family.
