Helen Marie Mitaly
Lifelong Resident of Norwalk
Helen Marie Mitaly, age 94 and lifelong resident of Norwalk, died peacefully at the home of her daughter Marianne in Bloomingburg, NY on April 17. She was the wife of the late John Mitaly. Helen was born in Norwalk on November 26, 1918, the daughter of the late Robert and Ethel Toby Hennessy and had lived in Norwalk all of her life. She attended Norwalk schools and graduated from Katharine Gibbs School on Park Avenue in New York City. Helen worked with her husband in their family business, John Mitaly Electric and she was a dedicated volunteer in many charitable organizations, especially Family and Childrens Services.
Helen is survived by her sons John and his wife Kathy of Petersburg, NY, Scott and his wife Barbara of Milford, CT and daughter Marianne Pote-Hass of Bloomingburg, NY, her grandchildren Kimberly Mulas and her husband Giancarlo, Jeffrey Pote and his fiance Melissa Iuso and Michael Mitaly and his wife Christina, great grandchildren Isabella and Sofia Mulas, and Kylee Mitaly, sister-in-laws Marie Hennessy and Julie Barnum and several nieces and nephews. Helen was also predeceased by her siblings Dorothy Mocciola and Robert Hennessy, Jr., grandson Mathew Mitaly and her son-in-law Hy Hass.
A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Jerome Church, 23 Half Mile Rd., Norwalk at 10 AM Monday, April 22, with burial to follow at St. John Cemetery. Helen's family will receive friends at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave., Norwalk on Sunday from 2-5 PM.
