Iris Marie Adler
Longtime Norwalk Resident
Iris Marie Adler, a resident of Norwalk for over 55 years, passed away at the age of 83 on October 5, 2013, at the Notre Dame Convalescent Home on West Rocks road in Norwalk.
Iris was born in Brooklyn, New York, daughter of the late Matthew and Sophie Curl. She attended New York University and Norwalk Community College.
Iris is loved and will be dearly missed by her husband of 61 years, Herbert, her 2 daughters, Susan Holcomb of Harvard, MA and her husband William, Barbara Null of Bend, Oregon and her husband Keith, her son Carl Adler of Sagamore Hills, Ohio and his wife Cheryl. She is also survived by her granddaughters Rachel and Katherine Holcomb and Megan and Bailey Adler and her grandson Matthew Holcomb and his wife Jacki, her brother Albert Curl and his wife Ginger as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Iris was outgoing and active, she loved to play tennis and bridge. She was a 45 year member of Shore and Country Club, and was active in the club's tennis program, serving at one time as Ladies Tennis Chairperson. She also played on Norwalk Community College's varsity tennis team. Iris organized and operated an Accounting and Tax Preparation business, Automated Executive Taxes, was licensed as an enrolled agent by the IRS and belonged to several professional accounting and tax organizations. She was also a long-time member of the Norwalk Women's Club and Kiwanis.
Iris' family wish to thank, Sister Lucie and the staff at Notre Dame for the kind care they have given to Iris in the past 4 years.
Friends may greet her family on Tuesday, October 8 from 5 to 8 at The Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Avenue, Norwalk.
Funeral Services will take place at 11 AM at The Riverside Cemetery, 81 Riverside Avenue, Norwalk. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Notre Dame Convalescent Home, 76 West Rocks Road, Norwalk, Ct 06851 or St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 208 Newtown Ave. Norwalk, Ct. Iris will be remembered by the members of CTNATP (Tax Association). She was a member so long and was so involved and help full with education and seminars. We are so sorry for your loss.
