Jared Carter Finch, 72, of Wilton, Connecticut, loving Husband, Father, Grandfather and Friend, passed away at home surrounded by his loved ones on October 29, 2013. Jared was born in Norwalk on June 17, 1941 and was predeceased by his Mother, Helen Audrey Deverill Finch, his Father, Willis DeWolfe Finch, and his brother, David D. Finch. Jared is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Christine Alison Finch of Wilton, a son, Robert D. Finch and his wife, Kimberley of Southbury, a daughter, Pamela Finch Ivey of Brookfield, his four grandchildren, who he loved more than life itself, Nicholas, Ryan, Morgan and Madalyn, his beloved dog ‘Daisy', several nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
Those who knew Jared also referred to him as ‘Jerry', ‘Jer', and ‘The Chief Bahoona'. Whether it was guiding tourists down the Allagash River in Maine, backpacking across country to Alaska, skiing in the mountains of Vermont, or simply being in his backyard, Jerry loved the outdoors. Jerry graduated from Maine Central Institute in Pittsfield, Maine, where he was a star athlete on the soccer team, earning him the nickname ‘Golden Toe Finch'. After graduating from Nichols College in Dudley, Mass, in 1961, Jerry served in the National Guard for 6 years. In 1966, Jerry married the love of his life, Christine and in 1969, founded ‘Finch & Company Tree Experts, Inc.', which recently celebrated its 44th anniversary in business.
Interment will be private; there are no calling hours. In his memory, donations can be made to his favorite charity, The Connecticut Humane Society, 455 Post Road East, Westport, CT 06880.
